Mini-grid Tariff and Regulation Support

AFUR's mini-grid work is designed to help African regulators move from general policy ambition to practical implementation. It brings together tariff support, model regulations, knowledge exchange, capacity building and benchmark evidence for the mini-grid sector.

The initiative is supported by Transforming Energy Access (TEA), with AFUR as the lead implementing organisation and implementation support from AMDA, GET.transform, COMESA, UNDP AMP, APRC, FCCC and MGP.

“Mini-grid tariff frameworks have a strong influence on viability and sustainability, notably by affecting operators ability to set end-user tariffs and ensure cost recovery. This tool puts best practice directly in the hands of regulators.”
