The African Union recognises eight Regional Economic Communities as the building blocks of continental integration. AFUR's work on regulatory harmonisation aligns with and supports the mandates of each REC.
AFUR works directly with these four regional regulatory bodies. Together they form the backbone of Africa's continental electricity regulatory network.
As the pan-African forum bringing together individual national regulators, AFUR sits at the intersection of national and regional regulatory governance — making it uniquely placed to convene, coordinate and support the RECs in building a unified continental electricity market.
AFUR is actively working to expand this network to all AU regions. Contact us to connect your regulatory body with the continental collaboration initiative.
