The African Union recognises eight Regional Economic Communities as the building blocks of continental integration. AFUR's work on regulatory harmonisation aligns with and supports the mandates of each REC.

AFUR works directly with these four regional regulatory bodies. Together they form the backbone of Africa's continental electricity regulatory network.

ECOWAS · West Africa

The official electricity regulatory authority for the ECOWAS region. Based in Accra, Ghana. Active partner in AFUR's continental collaboration meetings since June 2025.

Focus on Grid Code development challenges and opportunities. Technical presentation by Mr. Steven Mwinga (ERB Zambia / RERA Technical Committee) on national and regional grid code frameworks, cross-border interoperability, and standardisation.
