AFUR Enhanced Mini-Grid Tariff Tool

The TEA Project Phase II (Transforming Energy Access) builds on the success of Phase I by mainstreaming the AFUR Enhanced Mini-Grid Tariff Tool to new countries across Africa. The tool is designed to help regulators and policymakers develop or adapt mini-grid regulations aligned with international best practices, ensuring country-tailored approaches to support and scale up mini-grid development. Governments have an important role in facilitating private sector participation in the African mini-grid space. A tailored approach to tariff regulation is an effective way to mobilise private sector investment.

“Mini-grid tariff frameworks have a strong influence on viability and sustainability, notably by affecting operators ability to set end-user tariffs and ensure cost recovery. This tool puts best practice directly in the hands of regulators.”
